What is J.E.W.E.L. Living?
Please keep in mind that this J.E.W.E.L. Living section of our website is primarily aimed at those that are experiencing difficulties with their health caused by an indulgent and perhaps sedentary lifestyle, and/or with fasting. It purposes to provide as much information as possible for people to maximize their health, stimulate natural healing, and overcome fasting struggles. This section contains lots of information, so please review as desired and apply as much or as little as you feel moved to. Even if someone was to take on board a few changes within the scope of what they feel able to cope with, they will be sure to experience some positive results. So, take your time, enjoy, and lay hold as you feel inspired and able.

God designed food first and foremost to nourish our bodies, so nutrition should be our overall purpose to eating. God reminds us that our bodies are temples of His Holy Spirit with which He has most graciously anointed us (1 Corinthians 6:19-20) through the redeeming blood of His Son, Jesus Christ. It is therefore our duty to honor God by doing what it takes to bring our bodies into subjection and to follow after – from an “overall” perspective – those things that are profitable for our well-being (mental, physical, and spiritual), ultimately to His glory.
With this in mind, J.E.W.E.L. Living aims to educate, motivate, and inspire God’s children, to help those that are struggling to transform their lifestyles. In this way, they can begin to radiate health and vitality and, in turn, influence their spiritual productivity.
J.E.W.E.L. Living is also designed to help God’s children to bridge the gap between fasting struggles and fasting joys, so they can comfortably access the miraculous power of this God-given tool. Many people avoid fasting unto God because they can’t cope with the negative side effects it brings upon them. Yet, they do not realize that the source of their extreme discomfort is most often an unhealthy body.
While fasting and good health are by no means the answers to eternal life, they are certainly significant keys to a prosperous walk in the Lord. If you do not use all of the tools with which God has equipped you, and if you allow a very unhealthy lifestyle to sabotage your physical and mental well-being, so many other aspects of your life will be adversely affected, from your desire to pray and read God’s Word, to relationship harmony, to even confidence in expounding God’s Word unto others.
“There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit” (Romans 8:1), so do not let your past be an anchor to forward progression. If you truly feel the Lord is leading you to recognize you’ve been neglecting these areas of your life (whether unwittingly or with knowledge) then simply rejoice and move forward as best you can. As Paul the apostle so wonderfully put it, “I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 3:13-14). This pressing forward incorporates all things that help us to draw nigh to God and be in tune with His Spirit, and thus remain on the path toward His kingdom. It does not require perfection; it simply requires our best effort as we learn, overcome, and grow.
J.E.W.E.L. Living is not about obsession, or the complete elimination of any particular foods. Rather, it’s about balance and focusing on what makes sense for our bodies as God’s creation. Too many of God’s children are put off from seeking good health and even from fasting because of “alternative” spiritual and extremist groups that often regard these things as a religion unto themselves. But as children of the living God, we must remember that fasting and taking care of our bodies originated with the Lord. We therefore must not let those who have distorted and overemphasized these practices rob us of the fruit that God designed for us to enjoy.
